Wow.

Here's a list of M/L departures by station from about this time last year (credit to Eolesen for compiling it). Some of the numbers have likely changed, and others may have less than 7 departures a day now (the current threshold), but be staffed due to system protection. Still a huge hit:

SJC 8
TUL 8
SJC down to eight flights. So much for Reno Air's old hub, eh?

I saw that in the paper this week, but it's a little misleading. It's actually T4 West, the economy half of the terminal. There are still some agents staffing some positions in T4 East, the elite/premium side of the terminal.

AMR's Unique Plan: Grow, Don't Shrink

Laura Glading, president of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, in a message to members said the proposal "is even more extreme and despicable than we had anticipated." She said she will oppose the plan in negotiations and in bankruptcy court.

American Airlines Seeks 13,000 Job Cuts

Union representatives said they were stunned after meeting throughout the day with airline executives at the carrier’s headquarters in Fort Worth. But union representatives made clear, after hearing the airline’s proposal, that it was asking for too much and they intended to fight the company’s proposal.

“They have taken every provision of our contract and simply ripped them out,” Laura Glading, the president of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, said in an interview. “It’s outrageous. This isn’t something we will agree to and we will fight it.”

“This is blood on the street for employees,” said Ms. Bryan of Gimme Credit. “It is very painful. But the main part of their problem is the top-line growth, and I don’t see how they fix that. They are still playing football with a leather helmet against Delta and United.”

William S. Swelbar, a research engineer at the International Center for Air Transportation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said that while the company’s proposal was harsh, it was consistent with what other airlines had done in previous bankruptcies. “This is going to be a tough sell, but they are negotiating with a hammer,” he said.

Chip continues to go on to state, Send it out now so we can vote yes, Send me the T/A Please. I love those concessions, are you sure you don't want more?!?!? His advice to AA is to jump on this proposal, as it looks mouth watering great. Giving away all flying under 88 seats. Wonderful......

I am sure glad not to be in their shoes right now! Of course, twice is enough for anyone! :o
Unfortunate, but glad to see them making the tough decisions and doing it right. Hope to see a strong AA emerge.
