Yes it can be, but that depends on a few factors. For example I commonly take care of business in Magnolia, AR. I live in the Houston area... Magnolia, AR is a day trip one way. However if I fly my Piper Arrow renting for $120/wet block time it comes out to $450 round trip same day return. I can take that same trip, and be forced to spend the night-that adds the expense of a hotel for four people. Both trips come out at about $450, one lets gets you home in time for dinner, and back to work the next day. Of course it is only justified for four people same day return. But the point is this is just an example in general aviation.. Flying the airlines can be even cheaper-you are right my friend!
