UPS Injury on Duty

A friend of mine is a driver for UPS (panel truck) he fell over a box exiting his truck and sprained his ankle. He has been out of work for a few weeks. Does UPS pay for IOD (injury on duty) time.Or does he have to wait till NYS comp pays him? At AA we get 10 days paid for any IOD then the State compensation takes over. just curious
