From the article, it seems the new head of the APA really gets it: He sounds like he is for Single Carrier between AA and AE.

Remove AE as a threat to all of our futures and combine the carriers.

I can't imagine AMR would want to bring the AE mechanics over and start paying them A/A wages and benefits. The pay difference is substantial.
